Rank Tracking & Keyword Data
Rank tracking, keyword research, and backlink data in VisibilityIQ are powered by the platform’s built-in data index — included in your plan. There is no third-party account to connect and no API key to manage. The data is there the moment you add a project; you control only how often it refreshes and how much of your monthly data budget it spends.
What this powers
Section titled “What this powers”Rank tracking — daily keyword position data for your tracked keywords across Google and Bing, in any supported market (US, UK, CA, AU, DE, FR, and more). Includes SERP feature detection: featured snippets, People Also Ask, local packs, and more.
Keyword database — search volume, competition, and intent classification for tracked keywords and for keyword ideation in the Keyword Workbench and Topic Explorer.
Backlinks — referring domains, backlink counts, an Authority Score, dofollow/nofollow breakdown, toxic-link scoring, link velocity, and link-gap analysis. See the Backlinks overview.
AI visibility — brand mentions and citations in AI answers across engines. See AI Visibility tracking.
No setup, no key
Section titled “No setup, no key”Unlike the Google connectors, there is nothing to authenticate here. The data index is a platform service included in your subscription. Your keyword, rank, and backlink data is available automatically — you don’t bring your own credentials, and you never see or manage an API key for it.
Data budget
Section titled “Data budget”Rank tracking, keyword research, and backlink pulls draw on your plan’s monthly data budget. The budget is enforced before each sync or on-demand pull, so you can never accidentally run an overage — if you’re near your limit, VisibilityIQ warns you and pauses rather than charging extra.
Many features are action-first: nothing fetches automatically, and a tool only spends budget when you click Run (research, a sync, a sample, a scan). When the budget is exhausted, you see a calm “data budget reached” notice rather than an error, and the work resumes next cycle.
You can see budget usage under Account → Billing → Data usage.
Sync cadence for rank tracking
Section titled “Sync cadence for rank tracking”Weekly by default. Options: daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly.
- Daily — recommended for competitive categories where positions shift frequently
- Weekly — good default; balances data freshness with budget efficiency
- Biweekly / Monthly — for low-competition or informational content where positions are stable
Syncs run automatically overnight (UTC). You can trigger a manual sync from Project → Keywords → Sync now.
