Topic Explorer
Topic Explorer helps you see the whole shape of a topic before you write a word. You enter a topic and run it; VisibilityIQ returns a card of related subtopics, the questions people ask, and content angles you could take, plus a content-explore view of pages already ranking for the topic. Where the Keyword Workbench builds a flat keyword list, Topic Explorer maps breadth — so you understand the full territory and don’t ship a thin page into a deep subject. It is action-first; you run it when you want it.
What you’ll need
Section titled “What you’ll need”- A project to work in.
- A topic to explore — a subject area, not a single exact keyword.
- Available data budget. Topic and content data comes from VisibilityIQ’s keyword intelligence; each run consumes a small part of your project’s monthly data budget.
How to use
Section titled “How to use”Open your project and go to Keywords & Content → Topic Explorer.
- Enter your topic.
- Click Run to explore it.
- Read the topic card, then switch to the content-explore view to see what already ranks.
How to read the results
Section titled “How to read the results”The topic card breaks the subject into three layers you use together:
| Layer | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Subtopics | The component themes a thorough piece would cover |
| Questions | Real questions searchers ask, ready to become headings or FAQ entries |
| Content angles | Distinct framings or stances you could take to stand apart |
The content-explore view shows what is already ranking for the topic. Read it as a competitive baseline: it tells you the depth and structure you’ll need to match, and where the existing coverage is thin enough to beat. Use the subtopics to scope your outline, the questions to draft headings and answer blocks, and the angles to choose a position rather than rewriting what already exists.
Refreshing the data
Section titled “Refreshing the data”Topic Explorer doesn’t load on its own and doesn’t refresh automatically. Enter a new topic or re-run the same one to pull fresh data. If your monthly data budget is spent, the page shows a calm notice rather than an error — top up the budget or wait for the next cycle, then run again.
