Connector Troubleshooting
Google Search Console
Section titled “Google Search Console””Access denied” (403)
Section titled “”Access denied” (403)”Your Google account doesn’t have the required permission level on the GSC property. GSC requires Owner or Full User permission. Check your permission level at search.google.com/search-console/users and ask the property owner to upgrade your access.
”This app isn’t verified”
Section titled “”This app isn’t verified””Google may show a caution screen while it completes its review of the VisibilityIQ application. This is VisibilityIQ’s own OAuth app and is safe to proceed through — expand Advanced and choose Go to VisibilityIQ. The screen disappears once Google’s review finishes. (See Google OAuth setup problems for the full consent-screen walkthrough.)
”No properties to pick”
Section titled “”No properties to pick””After signing in, the property picker is empty. The Google account you used doesn’t hold access to any GSC property. Sign out and reconnect with the account that owns the property — confirm your access at search.google.com/search-console/users. GSC requires Owner or Full User permission.
”Token has been expired or revoked”
Section titled “”Token has been expired or revoked””Your OAuth token expired or was revoked. Go to Settings → Connectors, Disconnect Google Search Console, then click Sign in with Google to reconnect. If this happens repeatedly, check that you haven’t removed VisibilityIQ’s access in your Google Account → Security → Third-party access.
No data after connecting
Section titled “No data after connecting”GSC only has data for verified properties. Make sure your domain is verified in GSC and that you picked the correct property in the property picker (domain property vs URL prefix property). If you connected the wrong one, reconnect and choose the property that matches your project’s canonical domain.
Google Analytics 4
Section titled “Google Analytics 4””No properties to pick” / “Property not found”
Section titled “”No properties to pick” / “Property not found””The GA4 property picker is empty, or the property you expected isn’t listed. The Google account you signed in with doesn’t have access to it. Verify your access in analytics.google.com and ensure your Google account has Viewer (Analyst or higher) permission on the property, then reconnect with that account.
Findings weighted by the wrong traffic
Section titled “Findings weighted by the wrong traffic”If your prioritization looks off — app, login, or admin traffic showing up where marketing-site traffic should be — you connected the wrong GA4 property. Pick the property for the marketing/content site you’re auditing, not an app or auth property. Disconnect under Settings → Connectors, click Sign in with Google again, and choose the correct property from the picker.
Traffic data doesn’t match GA4
Section titled “Traffic data doesn’t match GA4”VisibilityIQ imports landing page sessions (first page of a session), not all pageviews. If you’re used to looking at pageviews in GA4, the numbers will be lower in VisibilityIQ. This is the correct metric for SEO — a session starting on a landing page indicates organic acquisition.
Bing Webmaster Tools
Section titled “Bing Webmaster Tools”OAuth fails
Section titled “OAuth fails”Bing Webmaster Tools uses Microsoft OAuth. Make sure you’re signing in with the Microsoft account that has access to the Bing Webmaster property, not a Google account.
”Site not verified”
Section titled “”Site not verified””Your site must be verified in Bing Webmaster Tools before data can be synced. Verify at bing.com/webmasters.
Rank Tracking & Keyword Data
Section titled “Rank Tracking & Keyword Data”Rankings not updating
Section titled “Rankings not updating”Check the sync log under Project → Keywords → Sync log. Common causes:
- Quota exceeded — you’ve hit your monthly data budget. Upgrade your plan or wait for the monthly reset.
- No key to configure — rank and keyword data comes from VisibilityIQ’s data index, which is included in your plan, so there’s no API key to enter and this class of credential error doesn’t apply. If rank data is missing, the cause is almost always an exhausted data budget or a sync that hasn’t run yet — see Missing rank data.
- Concurrent sync blocked — only one sync can run per project at a time. If a sync is stuck “Running”, contact support — we can manually reset it.
Keywords show no data
Section titled “Keywords show no data”Keywords outside the top 100 positions don’t receive position data. If all your keywords show no data, verify that:
- Your domain is indexed by Google (check via GSC or
site:yourdomain.com) - The keywords you’re tracking match how users actually search (check search volume in the ideation view)
- The sync has completed at least once (the first sync can take several minutes)
General connector issues
Section titled “General connector issues”Data not appearing after sync completes
Section titled “Data not appearing after sync completes”Data is processed asynchronously after the raw sync completes. For large properties (many thousands of keywords or URLs), processing can take 5–15 minutes after the sync shows “Completed.” Reload the page and the data should appear.
Connector shows “Error” status
Section titled “Connector shows “Error” status”Click on the connector to see the error details. Most errors are either authentication failures (fix: reconnect the connector) or temporary API outages from the provider (fix: wait and it will retry automatically on the next sync cycle).
If an error persists for more than 24 hours, email support@visibilityiq365.com with your project name and the connector showing the error.
